So glad we could get this issue resolved, I do apologize for the time it took, but thankfully it can be marked closed. And, we also refunded your money, so you got a fix for free, I hope this helps with your frustration.

(and I strongly suspect it's that 'securitycheckerpro' plugin that is logging me out and causing the login problems)

I'm using Securitycheck Pro and I love this component. You were logging out, because the settings did not allow login from backend and frontend with same user account.
