We have now opened a commercial services section here on the forum for registered users. If you have a Fabrik project that you wish to have someone work on for you, post it under Help Wanted. If you are an application developer and wish to earn some money helping others, post your details under Fabrik Application Developers.
Both of these are unmoderated. It will be up to both parties to work out the details and come to an agreement.
For running J!5.1 you must https://fabrikar.com/forums/index.php?wiki/update-from-github/ or include the new file manually https://fabrikar.com/forums/index.php?threads/joomla-5-1-and-fabrik-cannot-find-files-error.54473/post-285151 See also Announcements
The Wiki instructions on how to do this are not really as clear as they could be - and the Wiki should be updated to better explain the steps that need to be taken.
I do it this way because I often found corrupt or failed files when I depended on copying the extracted files in a batch via Filezilla/ftp. I still use Filezilla - but just transfer one file. Otherwise it takes forever because each file (all 5,268 of them) needs to be written and verified by Filezilla throughout the process. I just found it more reliable, and much faster, to take a few minutes to do the extra work and then let the server extract the zip (which takes all of 3 seconds). It's a Wiki. By definition, you are encouraged to contribute and improve the Wiki content.
BTW, why steps 3-6? I just use FileZilla, and upload everything after step 2.

And then again, if there wasn't that 'root' folder in the zip I wouldn't need to do steps 3-6. I've already questioned early on why that folder is even there and just got the usual "just take it like it is and shut up about it" response. But it sure would be nice if you could just copy the zip from github to the Joomla root folder and unzip it.
wget --no-check-certificate https://github.com/Fabrik/fabrik/tarball/master -O - | tar -zx --strip-components 1
I understand it's a Wiki - but I'm just a lazy selfish ass and can't be bothered with it. So I just make 'suggestions' for anyone who is into that sort of thing.
I'm in the process of trying to convince this client to switch to a hosting package where I'll have shell access - but for now I don't. And even if I did I wouldn't feel comfortable using shell commands (at least for the first time) on a live site without first testing it in a temp folder. Just call me paranoid. As I explained when you first asked (I can dig up the thread if you want me to) that's not us, that's github. If you have an issue with the top level folder, complain at them, not me.
BTW, if you have ssh access, the quickest way to do it is ...
Code:wget --no-check-certificate https://github.com/Fabrik/fabrik/tarball/master -O - | tar -zx --strip-components 1
... after cd'ing into the J! root, which achieves steps 1 thru 10 in a single command. Substitute joomla3 for master if you use 3.1.
OK, I can respect being a lazy selfish ass and not bothering about things that would benefit the community. But if you acknowledge that, and seem to take pride in it, then taking the time out to make comments about the wiki needing improving seems a little odd to me. If you can't be bothered to contribute by helping out with the wiki, then don't bitch about it.
