• Hello Fabrik Community

Fabrik is now in the hands of the development team that brought you Fabrik for Joomla 4. We have recently transitioned the Fabrik site over to a new server and are busy trying to clean it up. We have upgraded the site to Joomla 4 and are running the latest version of Fabrik 4. We have also upgraded the Xenforo forum software to the latest version. Many of the widgets you might have been used to on the forum are no longer operational, many abandoned by the developers. We hope to bring back some of the important ones as we have time.

    Exciting times to be sure.

The Fabrik 4.0 Official release is now available. In addition, the Fabrik codebase is now available in a public repository. See the notices about these in the announcements section

We wish to shout out a very big Thank You to all of you who have made donations. They have really helped. But we can always use more...wink..wink..

Also a big Thank You to those of you who have been assisting others in the forum. This takes a very big burden off of us as we work on bugs, the website and the future of Fabrik.

  • Introduction

Connections allow you to connect to the database that Joomla uses as well as other MySQL databases. Note that the user credentials you enter here must have access to the database in question.

    View Connections

Each connection can be selected with the check box to the left of its name. Once selected it can be altered by clicking on the buttons in the top right hand corner:

    • New - allows you to create a new connection.
    • Edit - allows you to edit the connection, note that you can also edit the connection by clicking on its name.
    • Publish - sets the state of the connection to published.
    • Unpublish - sets the connection's state to unpublished
    • Check In - checks in the conenction.
    • Trash - trashes the connection.
    • Options - this is a link to the general Fabrik Options.
    • Help - this links to the Fabrik wiki section on 'Connections'.
For each connection in the list you have a couple of links:

    • Default'- sets the connection to be the default connection. This means that this connection is selected as default when creating new Fabrik Lists.
    • Published - toggles the connection's published state
    • Test connection'- tests if the connection is able to connect to the database.

    Add/Edit a Connection

On this page you can add or edit a connection

    • Label - The label used to describe the connection.
    • Host - the databases host this is most likely 'localhost' but may also be an IP address
    • Database - the database name
    • User - the user that has access rights to the database.
    • Password - The users password
    • Confirm password'- Confirmation of the password is required so that you don't enter a mis-spelt password. (Note that if editing a connection these fields will be blank, leave them as such to retain the original password)
