User Element Plugin does not show name but it in list

I am using the user element plugin, to mark a record with the current users name. In the form the user is not shown as a field, regardless of the PLG_ELEMENT_USER_HIDDEN_LABEL option. In the list only the id of the user is shown.
I use the prostar template and fabrik 3.7. Is there a known issue? I want to display the creators user name in the form and the list without the user to be able to change. Is there something I have to care about?

I tried to use a databasejoin element plugin. I have been able to join cross database but

• how to initialise it with the current user?
• and how to show the user name instead of the id if the field is readonly?
• and how to show the current value (if the form is loaded the dropdown leaves empty even if there is a previously chosen user from a previous edit?
