Multiple similar entries after running github

I just ran github (first time ever) and now in 'extension manager - discover' there are lots of fabrik related entries, all duplicated three times (see image below for small part of the list).

fabrik-discover.gif

Should I 'discover' all of them? Delete all of them? Start again...

Thanks!

I never have seen something similar.
What happens if you "Purge cache" and "Discover" again?

Can you check your folder your-joomla-root/plugins/fabrik-elements: are there more than one folders colourpicker (e.g. something like colourpicker(1)...)?

I have no clue. I've never seen this issue, and there's nothing we're doing that would cause that.

I would install 1, say for instance the colour picker the purge and discover again to see what happens.

Theroretically it should make the 2 duplicate colour pickers disappear.

I tried that (with 'birthday') - it installed it three times - i.e. it was listed three times under plugins - then gave error messages when trying to delete it using extensions / manage / uninstall.

One of the three was uninstalled successfully

The error message for the other two was 'Manifest file invalid or not found' (presumably because uninstalling the first had removed it...)

Any ideas how to proceed very welcome - reinstall github? uninstall and reinstall fabrik?

Did I do something wrong with github perhaps - I used fireftp to transfer all the files, including ones like build.xml and build_js.xml in the root directory. Should these not be transferred?

Thanks

edit: if its any help, each of these plugins is listed three times in the _extensions table in the database

#_extensions is showing all plugins listed in the "Discover" tab (state=-1), so this is at least consistent (after "Purge cache" - without "Discover" - those entries should be gone).

Can you do a search (starting from your Joomla root) for e.g. colourpicker.xml; is there more than one file?

I can provoke duplicate entries by copying the fabrik_elements folder (but this would show a different folder name) or the e.g. colourpicker folder (but here you said there's no additional one at your site)

As felixkat said: if you install one of three and than purge/disover again the addional 2 entries should be gone.
But it's strage in anycase and may have other side effects.

If you un-install fabrik all you work will be lost. Just re-installing fabrik (or doing a new GitHub update) won't delete any additional files/folders so I can't imagine that this will help.

Thanks Troester,

I tried and yes, it seems to work if I install one of the three then purge / discover so that's a good start.

Do you think it's 'safe' just to do that for all of them or might I cause other problems?

When I search for e.g. colourpicker.xml the file only exists once

Cheers

I really don't know. I think it should be no problem to install the plugins you need, but as long as the reason of this strange display isn't known...

Do you have any system/server redirects, symbolic links, shortcuts?

Nothing 'out of the ordinary', I think. I use sh404sef for sef urls but doubt if that is related, otherwise I keep components, plugins etc to a minimum to avoid any conflicts etc.

It doesn't seem to have caused any problems with the rest of the site so far. It's a test site using jupgrade to upgrade from 1.5.26 to 2.5.6, and perhaps not impossible that jupgrade has done something 'unusual' during the conversion - I have converted several other sites in the same way with no issues, but have never run a github update on the others.

It maybe an idea to disable sh404sef and anything with a cache, i.e Joomla itself and sometimes templates have cache's as well.

I would keep these disabled until the problem is resolved, it may have been some form of cache issue that cause the problem in the first place.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe a permissions issue. In the backend can you click Site --> System Information then click the directory permissions and see if everything looks okay in there?

All looks ok in the directory permissions - pretty much all writable except configuration.php, is that what I would expect?

Yes that sounds about right.

I don't mind having a quick look if you want to PM backend access. I would like to be 100% sure this isn't a Fabrik issue.

We are in need of some funding.
More details.

Thank you.
