Link Element not working

I must be missing a step or something.

I have a view set up where I'm trying to create a google maps link (I don't want to use the API right now unless I have to ) Also, I will have the same problem when I work with links other than this google maps example. IOW

1. I have a view with a link such as https://www.google.com ....
2. I have a list in Fabrik tied to that view.
3. There is no link in the map column.

I haven't looked or tried - but just off the top of my head I would think that the 1st column (where you have the URL link) is intended for the text to be shown for the link. And the 2nd column is where the actual URL goes (what you have in the 1st column).

Also not sure - but maybe that 1st column could be a Fabrik placeholder for the company name?

GOT IT!!! Thanks to another post, http://fabrikar.com/forums/index.php?threads/link-element-on-https-site-with-http-links.45632/ Relsig posted a screenshot of the raw data. The data needs to be stored like

{"label":"map","link":"https://www.google.com/maps?q=123 Main Street Somers Point 1"}​

So, I wrote the following SQL code to do that.

CONCAT('{"label":"map","link":"https://www.google.com/maps?q=', companies.street_number, ' ',
companies.city , ' ',
companies.state, '"}')​

Well I had no clue, sorry.
Sounds like something that needs to be put in the Wiki - or I need to bookmark this thread for when the day finally comes that I use a map in a view. Glad you were able to find the solution you needed.

It wouldn't hurt to be in the wiki, but it's not a very common thing to need to do. This is the first time I've seen someone need to do this in the 10 years the link element has been around.
