Automatically store Joomla user name in field

I am having trouble getting Fabrik to auto load the username into the table when creating and updating. It acts like the Eval is not executing. I have attached a jpg of the element. What am I overlooking?

The default is only applied on new records, so never on updating.
You can also use the user element which can be set to "update on edit" (will store the userid and show username, name... depending on your settings).
