3.3.1 Update Question - GitHub or Zip?

Just curious about the recommended process for updating to Fabrik 3.3.1 on Joomla 3.4.

Is it sufficient to continue to update from GitHub or is it necessary to update using the 3.3.1 zip install? Some questions here in the forum seem to imply there are some database changes taking place?
