Quick question.

Doe the architecture of Fabrik store anything in the database?

I have a where some of the elements are faulty (i,e when I try to select them as a new element type, the properties section doesnt load.)

I am unable to deinstall the elements and a discover doesnt do anything.

Can I ccimply refresh my file structure and not worry about the database?

I have updated my files from the github but when I do this the whole site crashes.

refreshing the file structure should be fine.

However, I'm not sure as to what issue you are experiencing, it doesn't sound like something I'm aware off. It may be an issue outside of fabrik where a 3rd party system/content plugin tries to write output into the ajax response we send to load the element plugin html
So my first port of call would be to turn off all 3rd party content/system plugins and see if that resolves the issue. If it does then test by republishing those plugins one by one till you find the guilty party

As far as I know if you update all files from github this will work - if not then you will need to provide more detailed info about the issue for us to suggest a solution
