joined table problem

i can't figure out wth is happening.
i have a join, i click edit in the list, go to a form, click ADD, and the new group does not auto-fill the joined parent-field.
any guesses why this might happen. just need a pointer. i'm out of ideas. again.

edit: this is a N:N join. i've had it working on 1:N joins but not here.

i was using two databasejoin plugins, one for each FK in the junction table.
i removed the databasejoin plugin (made it a field) on the parent (in this case) and it's capturing the parent id again when i hit '+'.
[i left the databasejoin plugin on the other FK to make a selection.]

i take it back. not working.

can you post a link to the form, its hard to understand from your description exactly what the set up is ?

so, i've found a few threads here and at joomla of other people asking the same thing and a few saying this is not built in, or suppposed to happen.
true?
if it is, it would be super if you'd take down the ancient video showing how this is done.

Also can you confirm you are using fabrik 3.1 on Joomla 2.5?
