dbjoin auto complete does not save if data not in lookup list

using the auto complete function of a databasejoin, if you fill in something other than what is contained in the dbjoin list, then the data is not saved.

Should one not have a facility to allow the user to add his own data, even if it is not contained in the list?

there are many instances one wants to use a lookup and if not in teh list, to be able to add your own data.

this is expected behavior, if you want to add a new entry you need to select the front end add, as this means that any required fields for that list are entered and any acl settings are also respected.
