carrier return into message text

Hi all,
i have created a feedback email to a submited form.
I have used the "message text" field under "plug-ins" tab but the text contained in the generated email does not contain any carrier returns...
how can I add carrier return after each line?
i have tried to add "\r" or similar but without success...

If you want to use the Joomla editor to format your output, create an Article with the text and layout you want, set that in the Article Template dropdown and leave the Message Text field empty.

If you want to use the message field: it's HTML, so add <br>
